Guardian Helps Wrap With Love

Guardian Helps Wrap With Love

Date: 04/07/2011

As part of Guardian Funerals commitment to support our local communities, we have teamed up with the volunteer organisation Wrap with Love.

Guardian Funerals is assisting by encouraging people within the aged care facilities and community groups that we visit to knit. We are providing knitting needles and wool to get them started. Guardian's funeral homes are also official “Drop-off-Depots” for completed blankets.

Guardian Funerals supports Wrap with LoveWrap with Love is an Australia wide voluntary organisation established in 1992. Its main objective is to make and deliver blankets and wraps around the world to those less fortunate. This is done with the help of approximately 25,000 volunteers around the country knitting, crocheting and sewing independently in their homes or in small community groups.

Volunteers assist by knitting or crocheting 10” x 10” squares and joining them together to make a blanket. A complete blanket is made up of 28 knitted squares. These squares or blankets are then taken to a registered drop off location and delivered to the Wrap with Love warehouse for distribution.

Since its inception in 1992, Wrap with Love has distributed over 250,000 wraps to more than 70 countries. In 2010, 33,000 wraps were donated.

Wraps cannot be bought, sold, traded or raffled. They are a completely free gift to cold and traumatized people anywhere in the world.

Guardian Funeral’s Joanne Schembri is the driving force of our involvement and she can be contacted on 02 9887 2244.
