Guardians of the rugby day

Date: 27/07/2011

The NSW Metropolitan Fire Brigade and Police from Kings Cross swapped their usual uniforms for football jerseys to take part in a rugby league tournament to raise money for the Police Legacy.

Guardian Funerals sponsored the Fire Brigade team which saw the boys doing a great job on the day to beat the Kings Cross Police team by 44-26 in front of a crowd of around 3,000 spectators.

The Commissioner of the Fire Brigade, Greg Mullins was in attendance and praised Guardian Funerals for their support and generosity, and hoped this would be an ongoing partnership.

Kate Smith of Guardian Funerals, attended in her uniform and was ushered down to the sideline to meet and greet the Commissioner and players.

The Fire Brigade team received a lot of comments on how professional they looked, not just on the field but also off the field,  with their Guardian logos. They were the only team there on the day that had their own jerseys and polo shirts.
