Alzheimers Australia Memory Walk and Jog 2012

Guardian Funerals are proud to sponsor the Alzheimer’s Australia ‘Memory Walk and Jog – The Race Against Dementia’ on Sunday 6th May, 2012. The event takes place along the beautiful Bay Run at Leichhardt Park, NSW.

The Memory Walk and Jog is an opportunity for people to show their support for the fight against dementia, and to help raise awareness and funds for those suffering from this terrible disease.

Some facts about dementia in Australia:

  • Dementia is the third leading cause of death in Australia, after heart disease and stroke
  • An estimated 1.2 million Australians are caring for someone with dementia
  • In NSW an estimated 95,000 people live with dementia, which is expected to grow to 303,500 by 2050
  • Dementia is fatal and, as yet, there is no cure

A variety of courses will be on offer on the day with plenty of fun for everyone; the Family Fun Walk, a 2km scenic walk, and the 7.5 km Memory Walk and Memory Jog, which both follow the same route along the beautiful Bay Run.

The event is open to all ages. And with a wide selection of courses on offer, it is a wonderful chance for all the family to get involved and to have a great day out for a worthwhile cause.

Guardian Funerals will have its own team on the day and asks you to join us in your support to take part in the Race Against Dementia!
