Everything I requested was not a problem and carried out extremely courteously.
The whole experience, being somber as it was, from beginning to the end was handled by Legen Hale extremely passionately and professionally. Legen went above and beyond to make this very sad occasion a little more bearable.
Everyone they put us in contact with was professional and just as helpful.
They listened to what we wanted and even though some of our requests were outside of the normal box they went out of their way to help us make it happen. They were loving and caring in a time of grief and I felt secure in letting them deal with my dad.
I recently used Guardian for my mother's funeral and I can't speak highly enough of them.
Everything was taken care of in an extremely professional and caring manner by Nicole and the team. They met and exceeded our requirements. Would also highly recommend Father Nicholas Rynne if you require a Catholic service.
We’re so sorry you’re going through this. The first steps depend on where the person has died – at home, in hospital, in a nursing home or elsewhere. In most cases, a doctor or nurse will confirm the death and complete the medical paperwork. After that, you can choose a funeral director to bring your loved one into care. You don’t need a plan before you call us – we’ll talk you through what happens next, step by step.
Most families we meet are doing this for the first time. The first step is simply to reach out. When you call Guardian Funerals, we’ll start with a simple conversation about who has died and where they are, so we can pick them up and bring them into our care. At your first appointment, your funeral director will explain the main decisions – such as burial or cremation, timing and location – and help you decide a way forward. From there, we quietly organise the behind-the-scenes details so you don’t have to carry it all on your own.
If you can, bring a close friend or relative for support. Practical items that can help include your loved one’s birth details, any prepaid funeral documents or written wishes, a recent photo and the clothes you’d like them to be dressed in. If you can’t find everything straight away, that’s okay. We’ll let you know what’s essential now and what can be followed up later.
Yes. Many families come to us unsure about their loved one’s preferences. We’ll gently talk through the options with you, such as burial or cremation, whether to have a viewing, and what kind of service might feel right for your family and culture.
It varies. Things like the availability of venues and clergy, cultural or religious timeframes, travel plans and medical paperwork can all affect the date. Where there are urgent cultural or religious requirements, we do our very best to meet them.
No. You can call us as soon as you’re ready to talk, even if you have no details worked out. We’ll discuss options with you, such as using a Guardian Funerals chapel, a church or temple, community hall, outdoor space or family home. Once we understand what feels appropriate for your loved one, we’ll help secure a date and venue on your behalf.
Some documents can only be signed by you or other family members, but we can still assist. Your Guardian funeral director can explain what each form means and help you lodge the appropriate paperwork.
The cost depends on the type of service you choose – for example, a simple cremation, a full chapel funeral, a church service with burial, or a separate memorial. We offer flexible packages as well as individually tailored options. Contact us for a quote.
Many families need to be careful with costs, and some feel guilty about that. Please don’t. Tell us what you’re comfortable spending and we’ll talk through what’s possible, such as a simpler cremation, a memorial held later, or a modest burial.
You can reach us any time, day or night. We’ll answer, listen and help. That’s what we’re here for.
